Fredericks review by SH
Visited Frederick's with my girlfriend last weekend (on a busy Sat. night). Having booked a table without checking any reviews first I became very worried when I scanned some of the more surly comments by previous reviewers – I contemplated cancelling and going elsewhere.
As it transpired, I was worrying needlessly – the service and food were perfectly good. It made me wonder if either a) there was one particularly bad waitress which Fredericks have now sacked or b) some rather arrogant customers have been slighted by the fact that the hardworking staff have failed to fawn over them in a suitably subservient manner? Personally I prefer a cool, efficient service to having a gaggle of staff tucking in my napkin and constantly topping up my water after every sip!
In terms of ‘cost for quality’ Fredericks probably doesn’t win any awards. The food was good but not outstanding – but at a price where it is reasonable to expect something a touch above the merely competent. I also thought the wine list was a little on the pricey side - with the cheapest house red bordering on £20.
Overall - solid, but not spectacular.
