Alexander's Restaurant review by Louise
I visited the brasserie at Alexander House last weekend with my boyfriend and his family. We were shown to the bar and waited for twenty minutes for our drinks to arrive. When they did come my boyfriends beer was flat and had to be returned.
After finally being shown through to our table we chose our starters and mains from a varied menu. The starters were generally good. We had Chicken Parfait, Smoked Salmon and Scallops.
The main courses were a mixed bag. My Vegitarian Gourmand was a nice selection and was of decent size. My boyfriends Steak and Kidney pie was far from impressive, it really did look like a reheated ready meal and he had difficulty cutting it let alone eating it. The other three diners in our party seemed to be happy with the quality of their meals but the portions were on the small side.
The desserts were satisfactory but nothing amazing.
It was really the service that lets this place down. I had cutlery and food dropped on my lap by the waitress and the bill, which arrived after a very long wait, included £20 of cocktails which belonged to another table. I saw two other tables send back meals and the general atmophere was too quiet and tense for a Saturday night.
