El Molino review by realespan

After reading some very good reviews on El Molino, I decided to go there for tapas last Sunday lunchtime. I telephoned first to make sure they were open and serving tapas, which they assured me they were.

I arrived there about 2.30 and went in with my wife. My first impression was that it was not quite what I had expected, a little bit too cafe, with its formica tables and chairs, but nevertheless, I decided to give it a try, and made my way promptly to the bar, which was lined with stools.

A waitress came up to me immediately, and told us that we couldn't sit there, that if we wanted to be served, we had to sit at a table.

I couldn't believe I was hearing this, a Spanish restaurant, with a bar and stools, where clients wasn't allowed to sit?

We didn't want a full meal, all we wanted were some tapas and a bottle of wine, but we were refused service because we wanted to sit at the bar!

I had driven from South London to try this place, and I angrily drove back to south London again, without trying it. I drove to Clapham where Spanish restaurants are real, and comforting, and the staff know how to treat you.
