Browns (Islington) review by Jason

I have been an infrequent, though usually contented, diner at Brown's Islington for a while. Never again.

Trying to eat lunch there last Saturday I was initially told I could not sit in the window as this was set aside for people with accompanying children. So far, so bad.

I was then showed to a large table nearish the window and asked whether I would be happy there, which I more or less was. After consulting the menu, I settled in with my paper only to be interrupted by another waitress who asked me whether I was expecting anyone else, as a "family" queued up behind her. When I said 'no' she blatantly lied to me saying the table was "reserved" and pointed to a tiny postcard-size table for one in a dingy corner. I was so speechless that I just got up and left.

An offer of a coffee or something would have been a more positive response. As seems all too usual, a good restaurant ruined by badly trained staff. Quite sad, really.
