Thai Pot (Covent Garden) review by Celine
I have learnt that in the west end there are two kind of restaurants:
- the ones benefiting from the tourist and west end crowds which provide an 'atmosphere' to convince you that they will also deliver in the plate as well as they deliver in making you believe you are in a special place because it all looks good around you, the paintings on the walls, the leather chairs and the linen
- and the ones doing a good job at providing honest quality food up and foremost, letting the decor lower on their priority list.
Thai pot sadly is from the earlier sort. There are too many staff, we were served by three different waiters, the owners are quite smarmy in their approach and it is obvious that they are running a tight production line for quick turnaround of people in and out. That could be fair enough if the food was up to standards of what many people nowadays expect from a thai restaurant: fresh, simple but tasty thai food. Here it was greasy, very oily food with no taste or care that made you feel bloated and left you very unsatisfied.
Not to be recommended.
