Balham Kitchen and Bar review by Kris Meadows
I don’t mind paying a premium price for a premium product, however this definitely was not one of these experiences. I had arranged to bring a group of 18 of us for a late brunch this past Saturday morning. To make sure we could all catch up I Booked a table in the snug area. However when we arrived the most unhelpful manager in the world said they had tried to call on several occasions to confirm with us and had not managed to do so. One this was untrue and second my wife had spoken to someone from the restaurant to confirm two days previously.
Falling just short of calling me a lair the Manager said that it was my fault and that he could not seat us together. It was then left to me to try and sort out a solution and not as you expect the other way round.
Without even a hint of an apology we were left waiting as the manager took about 10 minutes to come up with a plan. In the end we were split up into 3 separate tables, which was far from ideal as the whole point of the brunch was to catch up with all the group and not just those on your table.
And to top it off the breakfast deal that was on their website was no longer available, and according to staff should have been taken off ‘several months ago’
So if you like a place that makes you feel like you are putting them out and have to ask three times for a pot of tea (which never arrived), then feel free to spend your hard earned cash here. If not there are many better options availed in Balham.
