Me Love Sushi (Swiss Cottage)

I stumbled into Me Love Sushi after a tiring day of doing all the normal touristy stuff, and I just wanted something quick, easy and tasty. I tend to avoid fast food joints - hate that artery clogging grease and killer aftertaste of MSGs. Sushi was ideal. Although I had spied the take away Me Love Sushi locations before, this one is a sit down restaurant. You order at the counter - if you can manage to make a decision with such a huge menu - and then sit at a table for your meal to be brought to you once its prepared.

I started with Chicken Yakitori skewers, which were lovely and sticky sweet - just the way they should be, and then moved on to salmon noodles, which was really to die for. I love food with loads of flavor but not too spicy, and this was just right. The salmon had been pan fried so it had that lovely brown seared texture. Mmmm.

I would normally have chosen something like their salmon or crispy duck Temakai, which is like a big cone of seaweed stuffed with rice and other ingredients, or maybe their Sashimi platter which is a big plate of loads of sushi, but it was so cold the day I visited I need something hot to warm me up.

If you are visiting London and are looking for a tasty and healthy meal then I would highly recommend stopping in to Me Love Sushi. The place is really friendly, with a bright interior and funky decor and it is usually filled with quite a varied mix of people.

I am a big lover of fish, so it's no surprise that I love Sushi, although I tend to avoid the raw stuff and choose things like king prawns, fried salmon and crab. If you are a tourist to London you might have been brave enough to try Jellied Eels (a local delicacy) so you should try the Japanese barbequed version here.

The prices are all pretty reasonable for London, and the menu is really big so you can pretty much eat to whatever your budget is, and still get your fill. I found a lot of Japanese restaurants in London to have really inflated prices, and I guess that goes with the territory, but I would rather spend money on nice, fresh food than gimicky service or pretentious interior design.

Me Love Sushi is really easy to find, as it is right beside the Swiss Cottage tube station. (Exit 2 I think) It is also a convenient place to eat as it is close to Hampstead Heath so it's a great location to people watch or meet up with friends coming from outside the city.

If you are looking to pass some time in a clean, friendly place to hang out and chat with friends, then you can order dishes kind of like Japanese 'tapas' and nibble on different dishes. In fact, this is a great way to be a bit more adventurous with your food choices, as you can order plates of things like Flying Fish Roe sushi, or Japanese pickles to share amongst you.
