Spice Rack Lounge

Went here to celebrate a mates birthday (1st Aug).

Food is good and so is service. Had a particular Regency feel to it?

Nice decor and Audio Visual systems. Also nice clean toilets.

Parking can sometimes be a bit of a problem, but you can park in the local supermarket or just outside it in the side alley.

Good atmosphere and nice young vibe on Fridays and Saturdays.

What more can you say? These places are cropping up everywhere now that competition is so tuff such that these places are always pretty good now.

Bill for 7 people inc drinks came to just under 100 pounds.

Haandi Restaurant & Bar

Just went here yesterday (29th July 07). After checking out 2 italian restaurants that were absoulutely packed we decided to visit here, we were a bit worried as it was not that packed but at least it had more people than some other places in edgware.

When we first walked in, service was quite poor. Ignore by lady at the bar on the phone and had to look for a member of staff to get seated. Again, after being seated the staff were not very polite. Not particulary rude, but not polite either.

However, as the evening went on it all changed and the staff seemed to get to grip with it. Starters were fantastic and the main was OK. Seemed pretty pricey though, 47 pounds for 2 starters, 4 pints and 1 main.

Shish Willesden

Went there last week and really liked this place. OK, this is not one of those "best ever restaurant i've been to" reviews, but it was hard to find fault.

We came here as a large group for some drinks and some food. At first we sat upstairs and had some cocktails. Waitresses knowledge of cocktail was very limited but the guy making them knew his stuff which is really all that matters. Took a while to make but not the end of the world.

Upstairs was nice and friendly and the staff very pleasant. Live DJ was pretty good. Funky interior and clean toilets.

Downstairs for food, was much the same, friendly staff and good food.

Food was good and as you would expect it to come and we ALL enjoyed it. There was no "wow!" when the food came but not one person was disappointed.

Will come here again with some other mates for sure.

Zizzi (Finchley)

Went here yesterday as recommended by a friend. Nice modern well designed and clean establishment. Seemed to have a large wine selection.

Pizza was good but nothing special considering it was an italian restaurant.

Staff are excellent and were constantly asking if everything was OK.

Very nice and clean toilets. Important, this is good way to deduce how clean the kitchen is!

Can't comment on atmosphere as it was a Monday so was not that busy.

Bill for 4 people came to around £58, inc a couple of starters, mains and about 6 drinks.

China Red

Having returned twice to this restaurant after writing my first review I can say the staff seem a lot better.

They seem more friendly and politeful then before. They have a buffet for 9 pounds. You can eat as much as you like and the selection is quite good.

They still haven't got the beer situation sorted out. I've never heard of a restaurant that has no bottled beer. So you can't tell if they are serving you genuine Chinese beer or not.

I went to visit this place only to find out it is now a Greek restaurant!!

I never ate here but it looked quite good and modern from the outside. The reason we didn't eat here was because this place is situated on a busy main street and i like a bit a privacy when i eat. But instead you would be seated right next the clear windows.

It would nice if the owners could tint the windows as this is a restaurant not a cafe.

I've been here on many occasions but have had two negative experiences.

Once, they dropped soup on my girl friend by misake. OK, they offered to dry clean the clothes but could they at least have not charged her for the desert?!! No, she still paid full wack.

Once, my and mate came here, we spent over £50 on two people and let a good tip of change we had left over. However, due to leaving the tip we then realised we didn't have change for the carpark so when back to ask them to break a £5 note and they REFUSED!! saying they don't give change, no matter what we said.

Apart from the above, this is a genuine Italian restaurant and the staff are very friendly (which unfortunately seems artificial to me know).

I would recommend this restaurant, the place seems clean and open.

I love their special pizza with their Italian beer. If your into Italian football their is a screen there although i wouldn't recommend it for big games.

China Red

Don't normally do Chinese food but thought i'd give this place a try.

Food was actually quite good (but then as said, i'm no expert).

Starters were brought very quickly.

The member of staff serving us was quite rude, not in anything in particular that she did, but if i say "thank you" to someone 7 times i least expect it to be said to me at least once!! The lady was wearing black as apposed to the rest in red so i assume she was also a senior member staff.

The other staff members did seem quite polite though in all honesty.

Even asking for Chinese beer, one was jotted down rather than a selection being offered and they came in a standard glass. I at least like to see the bottle when ordering such beers.

Our meal came to £50 and that includes around 3 staters, 4 small beers and and 2 mains, so I don't think prices were that bad.

Also toilets were very clean which I think is important.

A tip for anyone driving to this place, DON'T park in the Centre Car Park, we were there for approx 1.5 hours and the parking cost £5.20. Finchley Road stn is just outside.
