The Brackenbury
Like eating food you wish you could cook in the posh sitting room you can't afford. Lovely intimate cosy atmosphere in winter, sunny terrace in summer. Good food all year round. Local favourite, but it never seems toooo busy, bizarrely. A more formal alternative to the Angelsea Arms, but less glitzy than Chez Kristof.

La Trompette
Fantastic, fantastic food. Slow, slow service on a Saturday night. Even so - you don't mind the wait, partly because the atmosphere is great, partly because the staff are very friendly when they get to you and mostly because they don't sell food that isn't worth waiting for. Go! But take your time...
