L'Absinthe

Went here for lunch recently on a Saturday. Had a very good meal we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The service was brilliant, very attentive and accommodating. The food was very good, simple French cuisine cooked perfectly. Wine was very good and price was fine (although by no means cheap).

I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant, although if you book make sure you are upstairs or outside, downstairs looked a bit dark.

Odette's

I went to Odette's with 5 friends for lunch on Saturday and overall had a very disappointing meal.

The service was very cold and very dismissive. We were often left with empty glasses, drinks normally had to be ordered two or three times and to top it all off at the end of the meal the waiter didn't bring us our change despite paying a 12.5% service charge.

Strangely there was also no table cloth for our table - and apparently none "large enough".

The portion sizes were laughably small, everyone was left still hungry at the end of the meal, had I paid the full price (instead of the set lunch menu) I would have been absolutely gutted.

On the plus side though the food did taste very nice and the Eton Mess was very delicious.

I won't be going back, and I wouldn't recommend Odette's to anyone, there are much better restaurants in the same street let alone in London.
