After reading the reviews for this pub I thought it would be a fabulous spot for a Sunday lunch for my birthday yesterday. Tried to book a table but was told that they were fully booked but that if I arrived early enough I should find a spot no problems. Arrived at 11.45am, only to find that 90% of the pub had been booked out! Sorry but is this a pub or a restaurant? Managed to secure a spot and ordered lunch, only to be bitterly disapointed by the food. £11.50 for the lamb roast, which was tough as old boots and came with an oily, watery concoction that was described as "beer gravy" but more resembled old dish water. Thank god I didn't spend £15 on the beef (or £9 on burnt bangers and mash!!). Of the 10 in our group only 2 people enjoyed their food. I have the feeling that this place is going on reputation alone, because it's a fabulous old pub, it's just a shame they don't put much importance on food quality. I won't be back.
