Luciano by Marco Pierre White

Went for dinner with my husband and another couple and were totally blown away by this place. Very glam, glitzy bar at the front of the restaurant. The restaurant was extremely elegant - beautiful decor and well spaced, large round tables which made such a nice change! Food was spectacular - amazing scallops, pheasant and monkfish were of particular note. Astonishing wine list in the middle of the menu, and the sommelier was very helpful. My only slight complaint was that service was a little slow but in the first month of opening, but the rest of the dining experience was so fantastic and I am sure this will improve in time.

Smiths of Smithfield

Returned to the second floor restaurant after a number of years and was really impressed. We had a delicious dinner and were served by a very helpful waiter who advised us well our menu selections. Very reasonably priced as well - no main courses over £10. Very bustling and busy on a Wednesday evening - great atmosphere and despite the location and most of the clientele probably(!) didn't feel too City-ish. Fantastic steak and burger - will definitely be returning soon! Cocktail bar on the first floor is great for pre/post dinner drinks.
