Sophie's Steakhouse (Covent Garden)

What a brilliant place! Four of us went here last week and had a fabulous evening.

Starting off with Champagne Mojitos at the huge funky bar with a great crowd of people was the perfect start. We then were seated and were delighted that there was so much good choice on offer. The menu isn't overwhelmingly vast, just full of the kind of things you actually want to eat. Prawn Cocktail to start for me but you don't have to go totally retro - there was dressed crab, spinach salad etc. Two of us shared the most incredible, melt-in-the mouth, Chateaubriand for main course which came with a excellent chips, bearnaise etc. A bit predictable I suppose, but we all had beef in one form or another. It seemed like the right decision though because everyone polished off what was set before them!

We all felt that, given the prices, the fun energy and atmosphere of the place, it was a surprise to have such good quality food. I can honestly say that the Chateaubriand we had was the best we've ever tasted but also the cheapest! That never happens!

Puddings were fairly simple but really well done - sticky toffee pudding, ice-cream....

The service was breezy and friendly, we didn't have to wait too long for anything and our waitress seemed to have an excellent memory for our drinks orders without having write anything down - and she was very busy, this place was full of people out for a good evening.

It is so heart-warming, after all the fussy, overpriced places we've eaten at, to have come across somewhere that is genuinely good value, serving food that is perfect in an atmosphere that is so welcoming.

Highly recommended.

A friend and I enjoyed the most blissful lunch here last week.

We had the incredibly cheap set lunch menu (two choices on each of the three courses + an amuse bouche for £25) and were overwhelmed with the wonderful meal we were served. It was clever, delicious, filling and beautifully presented.

Often the 'good value' set lunches that top restaurants serve are deeply disappointing, left-over type, meals. Having this lunch at Hibiscus is a completely different experience. I'm telling all my friends and I can't wait to go back!

The service was friendly AND supremely professional.

As previously mentioned, the wine list is good very good value.

It all made for a relaxing and memorable afternoon. Highly recommended.
