Bengal Spice

Average curry, and not a particularly exciting menu. Service was competent but not welcoming. Draught lager tasted somewhat sour. Portions reasonable. The price would have been OK (for West Hampstead) had the atmosphere been more congenial.

First time I'd been in, and I'll try somewhere else next time.

Lamberts

Good British food cooked in a classy and contemporary style, with strong reference to local, traditional ingredients. Nothing too fussy, but well executed. Friendly and efficient service and nice atmosphere. Reasonably priced, given the quality of the cooking.

Went on a Sunday before Christmas at 5pm just before last orders. The place was still very busy and had a nice and cosy atmosphere. The lunch/afternoon menu is cheaper than the evening one, which is worth remembering.

Monty's Tandoori

Food not particularly flavoursome, but large portions.

Service efficient but unwelcoming and a little surly.

Thus not particularly good value...not as cheap as the food or service would justify.

On the plus side, handy location and nice interior design...wood carvings and the like.
