I love tasting menus, so the idea behind Maze - that of offering a whole menu of mini dishes so that you can literally create your own tasting menu - I find wonderful. We ate there last night for the first time, my sister and I and both our partners, and it was a wonderful evening. As we booked at the last minute, we were advised that our 6.30pm table would need to be vacated at 8.30pm. However as it turned out we were still sitting there at 9.45pm! The food was wonderful, the service delightful and extremely professional and the wine (we had a lovely rioja but I don't recall the name). It's not cheap, though the 5 course chef menu at £30 does offer FANTASTIC value for money. I recently dined at Nobu and the service was a let-down(I posted a review on this site) however Maze is an entirely different story. Go there to enjoy great food, in lovely surroundings and absolutely gorgeous staff - from the charming lady who confirmed with us on the telephone right through to everyone we met in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble for them - including when my sister's partner, who is a trainee chef, asked for a copy of the menu to take away. All in all a winner - I'm already looking forward to returnig to this restaurant.

One point I forgot to mention - what's with the toilet attendants at Nobu? (Park Lane branch) I thought it was only naff west-end nightclubs that had attendants in the gents pointing perfume sprays at customers? Luckily in the ladies there were no perfumes/sprays but she did insist on handing me a paper towel when I am more than capable of getting my own. I detest this practice, it's embarassing as I normally don't carry my handbag (ie: wallet) around with me so I am left with nothing to tip for a service that I don't even want...

Michiaki London

Please check the address listed - I walked the length of Baker Street last night (following an unsuccessful visit to Nakamura nearby - that venue has closed) and could not find this restaurant. There is a lot of re-development on Baker Street - are you sure this retaurant is still open?
