Chamomile
This is a cosy little cafe - tucked away in Belsize park. It is a favourite with the weekend breakfast crowd and is usually packed. The menu is really good, if a little on the expensive side, with a nice selection of wholesome dishes, a variety of breakfasts and deli style dishes. Vegetarians have a good selection. So it should be an absolute destination of choice for people looking for a bolt-hole on a rainy day, a good cup of coffee or a healthy lunch. Unfortunately it also has the rudest waiting staff in London who appear to have learnt their customer service style from the a high security prison, a training school for dominatrices, or a 1950s girls boarding school - where regular beatings are on the menu.
Don't dare to ask questions about the menu (even though the menu suggests this is what customers do) or you will find yourself being loudly berated. In fact don't ask for anything at all unless you want to receive scouls, stares and tellings off. The waitresses seem to revel in the humiliation and bullying of their customers. What should be a charming dining experience can be made stressful and unpleasant - so diner beware!
