Firstly.... I emailed the restaurant 48 hrs ago and they haven't replied. Secondly... yes I'm going to be the person who writes a shocking review in a sea of outstanding ones. So, sorry about that. I really wanted to love Ottos and things started pretty well. Staff were pretty attentive although did tell us they were a bit behind when we arrived 10 mins early. The food was nice and there was a lot of it. But it didn't start to arrive for about 75 minutes. What was even more unprofessional however was the non-stop bickering, telling off and bitching of staff, all night! Otto telling staff off for not doing things correctly. The manageress getting flustered all night and shouting at staff and Otto. It made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere as it was all in front of us and within earshot. To top it all off as the evening went on and the staff became even more rushed and flustered and both my wife and I got sauces splashed on our clothes during the service.
At £230 for two people I expect better and far more professionalism and at the very least I expect a reply to my email that I sent detailing all this to them.

Firstly I am not a first time hater. I have been coming to oslo court for 10 years. Over that time I have seen it very slowly decline. I held this place in high enough esteem to have my 40th birthday here. This was a Thursday night maybe that made a difference. I'd never been in the week before. We were called on the day of the booking to be told not to rush and to come as late as possible. We did. We came 20 minutes after our booking time and still had to wait at the bar for another 30 mins before our table was ready. I soon spotted why. There was some very wide russian men who seemed to not want to give the table up. The barman was remonstrating with them in russian and eventually calmed them down. So not the best start. The food wasn't as good as usual and the staff not as friendly or polite. The usual French/Spanish and Catalan waiters and waitresses seem to have been replaced by an increasing amount of eastern europeans who rarely smile. Atmosphere is more sterile and less fun. What the place really misses is Tony Sanchez's daughter/s who were always on top of things and always made it an amazing experience. Lobster wasn't good or was there very much. I managed to blag an off menu beef wellington that was fantastic. But standards are slipping. I never thought I'd say this but I won't be rushing back. If you are a long term customer like I am and are thinking of paying a visit for the first time in a while. Expect a difference.

How this isn't in the top tens for brighton is a miracle. Great food. Fantastic Brazilian girl working front of house. Deconstructed fish and chips is a must.
We were treated like royalty and had a great night. Highly recommended. Give Estia a wide berth and head here instead.

I HAD TO WRITE THIS FOR EVERYONE ELSE ON THIS SITE...
This is not the best restaurant in Brighton. I doubt its even the best greek in Brighton. This site seems to be flawed (as is the london version). I wanted to check out Brighton's no.1 restaurant. When I rang at 8:30 and asked for a table a lady eventually answered and said "we don't usually serve people after 9 on a tuesday" so we hurried there and got there before 9. When we got there we walked in and waited ten minutes for a member of staff to appear. We just stood there perplexed in front of the diners. In the end I rang their telephone and someone appeared.
Service was hit and miss (forgot our water)
Kefdedakia were very good as were the dolmades. Pork souviakis were a bit too dry and the moussaka had no aubergine.
The prices were extremely reasonable though. Maybe thats why this restaurant scores so highly?
We were pretty gutted after the high standard of due south the night before and seeing as it was our last night in Brighton I'd rather we had gone somewhere else. If you get to this page and are wanting a top romantic summery meal then head to due south instead

Shoddy service with meals not turning up and waiters and waitresses losing the plot when its a bit busy. Over priced for what it is. Doesn't seem to deter the punters though. I won't be rushing back
