Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Restaurant

We booked the restaurant for four people on the three courses for £25 offer. The setting was very pleasant and had a good buzz. Unfortunately the three course set menu was very limited and unimaginative. We were extremely disappointed by the portion sizes of all the courses. Smaller dishes can work if they are delicate or robust enough however these simply were not. The fois gras was excellent however the single slice of thin toast was insufficient. The soup was also about half a mugs worth and barely served as an appetiser. The butternut squash was very sloppy and its presentation did little to make it more appetising. The sea bream was cooked to perfection but as a dish was let down by the bland and miniscule amount of kale and red pesto. The puddings were really very good and I would recommend the chocolate mousse but again the portions could have been more generous. I would not recommend the cheese board which at and extra £5 supplement fell very short of the mark. We thoroughly enjoyed the excellent Harvey Nicols own brand Bourgogne Blanc at around £30 per bottle. Service was ok but at times a little inattentive. In short the £25 offer really isn't value for money and we found ourselves eyeing up other restaurants still hungry for a good flavoursome meal.
