Livebait (Covent Garden)

I work in Covent Garden and have eaten in most of the restaurants. I recently invited a business colleague to join me for lunch at Livebait (having failed to get a table at the nearby and consistently good Loch Fyne). The experience was truly awful. In fact I can say this was the worst food I have eaten (or to be more accurate, tried and rejected) not just in the last 12 months but probably ever. I chose the Squid Tajine and my friend had some grilled fish. His was served cold, overcooked and tasteless; mine had the texture of soggy paper in an insipid tomato sauce that was more Co-op than Marocco. The revolting food, dismal service and bogus ambience constitute a disaster best avoided by all bar unsuspecting tourists.
