We went on Saturday and just like the reviews below, it was a very mixed bag. The 'galleon' seating was original and fun; but it meant that we waited 20 minutes before the (very abrupt and unhelpful) waitress deigned to call in to see us. The next waitress was then very friendly and efficient, as was our initial welcome.

For food our group had four starters, including two mackerel. Again, wildly inconsistent. One was shockingly undercooked; mine was burnt in places. One of the four mains was very good (haddock), two were very average (including my humdrum steak) and one was very poor. Garlic mash was very well done (but perhaps that's faint praise)...

On the plus side, very good value (if you were lucky with the food, that is). 2.95 for starters, 7.95 for mains, and that drops to 1.95 and 5.95 for lunch. And a good rioja for 17. Good friendly neighbourhood atmosphere, interesting(!) toilets although the 'erotica' on the walls (especially the ladies, I am told) may be a little strong for some palates.

Perhaps it's churlish to complain too much at these prices, but there were so many ups and downs in the quality of food and service that I felt we did well to leave whilst we were (comparatively) ahead. Probably wouldn't go again - one or two pleasing points, but too many bum notes.
