Chez Bruce

Went with some friends last night and were thoroughly delighted. Food was superb - the only problem was deciding what to choose. Staff were extremely helpful - got the balance right by being attentive without feeling as though we were being smothered. Special mention must go to the sommelier who was a credit to his profession.

Only complaint is the room is a bit cramped and noisy. But not enough of a problem to spoil the night.

Fish Club

It's a local delight. Staff are lovely - food is great. The fish is wonderful, as are the chips, but there is a special place in my heart for the the beetroot and caper salad and the mushy peas. Fantastic place - whether eating in or for take away.

Wolfe's

Went with four friends on Saturday for a quick meal. Had fond memories from a few years ago but how things have changed! The place was deserted. Service was smiley but poor - you know the sort of thing clearing tables before everone had finished, trying to take half full wine glasses and not actually knowing the menu. We were quickly seated and the orders were taken in good time. Then waited 20 minutes for our drinks despite reminding the staff. The kitchen staff seemed on a par with the front of house - four of us had ordered medium rare burgers - one of us got one, two got something roughly medium and one poor sod got a well done burger. We won't be going back!

Le Bouchon Bordelais

I am surprised with some of the comments re service. Living nearby we pop in monthly just about. Service has always been efficient and friendly. Food is always excellent. Its not the cheapest place in town but you get what you pay for
