Wahaca (Canary Wharf)

tried this new restaurant for lunch on Dec 2. What a disappointment after all the hype! I thought this place was run on the same freshly-prepared principle as wagamama but nothing of the kind. I ordered tortilla chips, guacamole and classic enchilada and horchata to drink. I was given a lot of spiele about how hot the sauce on the table was and that "first your waitress will bring your starter and drink then you will get your mains." In fact someone who was not my waitress (looked like some kind of student who had just dropped in off the street) casually dropped my mains on the table about 2 minutes later. No problem with that but it was near stone cold in a cold earthenware casserole pot. It was soggy encilada tortillas swimming in a cold tomato soup with a jedward quiff of cold grated cheese sitting on top. Looked like it had been prepared about 3 hours prior and put in the microwave for 15 seconds. I sent it back and paid just for the starter and drink which came after and which were fine. Mexican guy came over and tried to explain to me that is how they eat the enchilada in Mexico. I think NOT!! I have been there! If you are going to do this kind of thing with all the hype do try to get it right. Amazes me that owners must stick milions into this kind of huge restauarant and leave the staff/ cooks only half trained- or not at all.
