At a lunch recently, we were very warmly welcomed and seated at a reasonably located table-under the skylights.
The meal was most acceptable in all respects. My Hd'O was the rabbit whatever and my friend the Foiegras- the FG needed to be a tad warmer to release more flavours. On mains i had chicken-excellent and my friend had Lamb-also good. The desserts were quite a long time coming which ended up getting boring having to wait. The M'd did all he could to gee things up.
The wine list seemed eye-wateringly steep- £38.00 for a bottle of Prosecco- are they having a laugh. The basic red was £26.00 a bottle., and anything remotely interesting was nudging into the fifties.
We asked for coffee in the lounge, which was no trouble. Furthermore we were offered free liquors each - I guess to compensate for the slow desserts. When it all arrived I reckoned the Cognacs were probably doubles !!
In view of the fact that you get 50% knocked off the food bill it makes eating there very good value and a pleasant experience. Just be warned - the wine prices are very Mayfair!

I had supper at the Grill on Friday..as we hadnt booked we were initially offered one of the duff location tables, but they were quite content to let us choose a better place. The food was very pleasant- chicken liver parfait [excellent] followed by Tenderloin of Pork. My friend had Lemon Sole. It was strange that they didnt make suggestions of any sides to go with it.
We had a very decent Rose from Minervois..more fruit athan I wouild expect from a Rose.
As we had to leg it to the Purcell Room to attend a Film Preview we skipped puds.
The service was fine..a charming French girl took good care of us,and even theough they made a bit of a boob on the bill it was swiftly resolved.
Having read rather a lot of less encouraging reports, our experience was favourable.
