Giraffe (Marylebone)

We went to this restaurant earlier this year with a large group of people - adults and children of all ages.

We had a bit of an issue at first with seating, as they do not take reservations; several of us had rang them prior "warning" them that a large group was arriving at a specific time and that we would all need to be seated together. Some of us arrived early, expecting a wait - but we had much longer wait than expected. That was a bit disappointing. The main hostess/manager seemed very frustrated with our group and was, as I felt, quite rude and upfront about it. At one point even a member of our group told her that if she did not want our business then surely there was a nearly restaurant that would appreciate at it.

When we were finally all seated, the children were given small buckets of crayons and colour pages. They also had these cute little Giraffes that came with the drinks - the kids really enjoyed those!

The menu was good - a decent range of options. Some of us had the pancakes, which looked to die for, and others just ordered off the regular main meal option. I had a mexican dish which was lovely - however I still don't understand why sweet corn was in it -- i don't think that is very traditional at all, but it was still tasty.

Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and the service from the waitresses was BRILLIANT. They really made the trip across town worth it. They were so polite and over accommodating. It nearly made up for the attitude we got off the hostess/manager.

All in all, I would visit a location closer to me, but I do not think I would trek across town to this location again.

Food was good, but not over the moon. Service was fantastic, but the hostess/manager needs a lesson in politeness. The two things I would change would be: for them to take reservations and NO sweet corn in mexican food!

Thai Garden Cafe

We ate at this small place a little while back - it was surprisingly good! We were visiting the British Museum and wanted something calm and away from the crowds. The staff were wonderful and the food was fresh and lovely. I had a green curry dish that was very mild, it was really nice! The staff were even kind enough to accommodate for a six year old - she ate some sticky rice and a selection of starters - as well as eating off our plates! She really enjoyed the meal as well. I would definitely go back when in the area again. The bill was reasonable, but a slight pricey; but I wouldn't expect less in that area of London.

Bodean's (Soho)

As I am currently pregnant and craving meat by the truckload, my husband decided to book lunch for us here for Mother's Day! And it was amazing! Not only did it completely satisfy my need for BBQ, it was a lovely personal restaurant. We ate in the lower dining area, and were seated straightaway and the waitress was kind enough to bring our daughter (6 years) a colouring page and canyons. We browsed the menu for a bit, really deciding what we wanted. We decided on a very large mixed starters platter, and both my husband and I went for Pulled Pork dishes. Our daughter went for BBQ chicken from the kids menu, which we found out was such a great portion and excellent value! It included Ice Cream! Our starter came very fresh and you could tell that it had just been made -- it was so good, and the variety we picked was perfect to get a taste for everything. When our main meals came, I thought for sure it would put me in A&E for the night; but being a pregnant lady I managed to nearly clear my plate! The BBQ sauce they use is amazing! And just to note: they do sell it by the bottle on your way out! The whole meal was wonderful - I especially recommend the "corn muffins" as they are exactly like the ones made in the US! Excellent Value/Huge Meals/Great and Very Friendly Service -- We are going back before the end of May!

Cafe Pacifico

We ate at this restaurant during a very busy time at Covent Garden. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken right away. We had our daughter with us and she was a bit hesitant to try anything on the menu, as she is 5 years old. But we settled on the Quesadillas for her, as they only contained cheese. The staff were very friendly to her, they brought her crayons and a colouring paper while we waited for our meals. It was a bit loud, but I do feel that it was not much louder than any other busy restaurant at weekend lunch time. We were comfortable where we sat, even though it was in the middle of all the tables. And we were all able to talk at an appropriate level and hear each other wonderfully. We enjoyed looking at all the colourful posters and art on the walls, really added to the feel of the place! Our meals were lovely, and the staff was speedy at serving us. The plates were very hot, as they warned us, however, they had cooled down our daughter's plate (or didn't heat up) before serving her. She loved her meal. I would say that this restaurant has wonderful food, a great atmosphere, and I would return again and again (with or without our daughter)! Highly recommended!
