Mango Room

Although the staff are very slow to be promted the food is worth the wait, reasonably priced and one of the best if not the best carribbean restaurant in london.

A delightful restaurant tucked away from the main high street in Holland Park, the venue is outstanding, a real 1950's real and tranquil atmosphere, although the restaurant was not at full capacity, when I attended the atmosphere was a pleasant one , the waiters were excellent, the food was of a very high standard and one you would expect of a restaurant of this standing, the food is gastro pub meets sophisticated English cooking and the un-likely mix goes so well together, if you have not been here, definetly one to add to your list of Top restaurants you've attended.

Notting Grill

Another restaurant I've been to on several occasions and one I would be happy to recommend, based on past past experiences, however my last visit was dreadfully dispointing.

We arrived on time only to wait 30 mins for our table, after 30 mins of cocktails that are not cheap in a restaurant of this calibre we finally arrived at our table it took the waiter another 20 mins to comeback to take our order, with many of the items on the menu not available, it did not bode well for the evening.

Unfortunatly in our party of 9, we had one vegetarian in the party, who only had the choice of 1 main course which was very disapointing, a very very oily dish of grilled vegetables.

As it was a family members birthday, I thought the Notting Grill's atmosphere and food would make for the ideal setting based on 4 previous visits, but the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen was very irratic, the tuna starter, soup of the day, aswell as the Pork and mixed grill platter for main course were very good and were of the standard you would expect of AWT, the rump steaks were very disapointing on this occasion and were not cooked properly as they were all un-even, because I've been here on previous visits, I was very dispointed as I recommeded the restaurant for my mum's 50th birthday, I was disapointed to see they had not waived or atleast discounted the service charge as the service overall on this occasion was exceedly poor, but in this game, unless prompted the waiters always put the full service charge on, I was so disapointed and did'nt want to air my feelings to others in my party as I had recommeded the restaurant, so I paid the full bill, going forward, it would take alot to try this place again.

La Porte des Indes

I've have been to this restaurant on several occasions, the atmosphere is always very pleasant, although the venue is never at full capapcity which is surprising, this maybe due to some parts of the menu being slightly over-priced, the food is very good with some interesting dishes not liklely to be found in your local tandoori.

But at the top prices they charge, this is what you expect, but as an overall package you would find this restaurant very hard to beat.

The venue is outstanding with a real collonial feel to it, that is really inspiring in comparison to other venues, if you've never been here, this is without doubt one of the best restaurants in London and one you simply must try.
