Sticky Fingers
Someone suggested Sticky Fingers as a child friendly place for early dinner, so despite some mis-givings based on the reviews we gave it a try.
The restaurant is in a great location, is well fitted out and food wise for the adults was above average. The kids meal was not very good, a trip to McDonalds would have resulted in better food for our niece.
The service is the most complained about thing in the reviews and in my opinion shows the shortcoming of having service automatically included in the bill. The staff know that in 99% of cases they will get tips, therefore they don't need to try.
The waiting staff appear to prioritise standing round by the bar chatting to each other much more serious than ensuring the customers are well looked after.
in my opinion some strong management would raise the standards and subsequent ratings in no time at all, but I guess people go to Sticky Fingers as there is little competition in that restaurant segment and the management know that people will come no matter what.
Shame, a great opportunity to be a great restaurant missed!

Big Easy
Went to the Big Easy last night in a group of 10 of us based on my experience of going there before.
Gone Downhill are the best words to sum it up. We had a nightmare booking, first being told two weeks ago that we could only book a table of eight maximum as per their policy, so we booked and eight and a two and then last week we were told we could have a table for ten. Luckily one of the group dropped out at the last minute as the table could only seat nine as one seat was completely blocked by another table.
Bottles of beer that we were brought were warm and when we complained they just brought buckets of ice to put them in.
The food at best was average, ribs were dry and pretty tasteless and the seafood platter was a few prawn crackers, some fried squid and a few mussels.
Not sure what has happened to the big easy but I don't think I will bother returning until they can return to their previous level of quality.
The big easy is now a bit queasy!

The Square
Went last night and had the tasting menu with wines. Fantastic, food was excellent and the wine pairing was spot on. The old Petrus used to be my benchmark, The Square is now in that spot!

maze Grill
So went for Lunch last Friday with some clients and was a bit disappointed to be honest.
The restaurant was pretty busy and felt we were a bit rushed. Starters we ok, soft-shell crab was the best of the bunch.
We all had Steak for main course and the New York Strip was really nice, sides however were a let down. The first portions of garlic fries were cold and had to be sent back, the second portions were hot but smothered in raw garlic which just totally overpowered the meal. The waiter dropped an onion ring into my lap and just left me to try and remove the grease from my trousers without so much as an apology.
Desserts were good, Rice pudding with blackberries & Ice cream was lovely.
We let the sommelier choose the wines and the red he chose was fantastic.
Would I go there again, probably not. My experience of next door was a much better one and I am sure there are grill restaurants that can offer a more complete experience.
