Pearl Restaurant & Bar

The service was haphazard, food was served up when one of us had popped to the loo, my beef was overcooked - I did call the waiter over to tell her but she just shrugged and walked off. It was a pricey dinner which didn't meet expectations.

El Chicos Mexican Cantina & Cocktail Bar

The food isn't elegant, it's big portions, big coloured cocktails and waiting staff in big hats. It's pretty good though!

Purple

Great breakfasts, but dinner menu is pedestrian with bland boring food - it's a bit of an 80's pub menu.

At dinner the place reeks of a deep fat fryer.

We had the tasting menu with recommended wines which was fantastic. The service was great and will definitely return.

Gazette (Balham)

Style over substance and overpriced.

Our breakfast took ages to come out. My fried eggs were served up in a saucepan, it was awkward to dig them out but I guess they were stuck to the bottom. We ordered toast and got burnt garlic bread, it didn't arrive until we'd finished eating.

Wouldn't recommend or return.

Refettorio

The service was polite. The food was a poor, and overpriced. Pasta with rabbit with no sauce, dry meat in huge lumps. Roast potatoes pre-cooked then overcooked so that they were a rock solid shell with no potato inside. Dessert of the day was dreadful - lemon cheesecake without lemon and a base so crunchy we needed a knife. Even the coffee was bad.

Wouldn't go back and definitely wouldn't recommend it.
