Viajante

We had 6 course tasting menu at Viajante last Sunday. And it was an experience.

The service was great, the food astonishing, some uneatable for the normal English palette while some of the simpler dishes were great. My main complaint is that when you aim as high as this cook does you should at least do the basics well. The potatoes was not properly boiled and the lamb was chewy. But as experiences of unusual tastes go it is unrivalled in London.

Kentish Canteen

We went to this restaurant yesterday without much expextation but were very pleasantly surprised.

The hot smoked salmon , smoked on the premises, was the best I have ever had (and I am Norwegian). The steak and fish and chips were of very high quality,

in my opinion the steak was as good as what I have had at the Hawksmoor and the chips were very light and crispy, excellent.

Salads and deserts were also very good and service impeccable.

I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

The Square

We went to The Square with great expectation having read great reviews of this restaurant. Unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing restaurant

experiences I have had. We had the tasting menu and although some dishes were very good, the crab lasagne came with big pieces of crab shell in them (in 3 out of 6 of the dishes) Big enough to be a real danger. This should not happen in a 2 star restaurant . The halibut was overcooked and dry and the lamb was chewy and tasteless. There are much better restaurants in London at this price so do not waste your money going to the square. To top it off they charged for water that we had not had.
