Masters Super Fish

A couple of doors down from the Travelodge London Waterloo, this family-run cafe-style restaurant serves delicious fish and chips in simple surroundings.

The service is speedy and efficient, the food very tasty, the portions big and the prices very keen. A jumbo cod and chips with bread, butter, gherkins, pickled onions and complimentary prawns to start costs £8.50, a bottle of Peroni £2.75.

It's not going to win any wards for interior decor, but is well worth a visit.

Arquati Bistro & Restaurant

I went in on a Friday night after a theatre show with a friend and opted for the very reasonably priced (£11.95 for 2 courses, £14.95 for 3 courses) pre/post theatre menu.

The food was deliciious and there was plenty of it. The service was unobtrusive but friendly and the general ambience of the restaurant is very classy, but also relaxed and cosy.

I will definitely be back.
