The Red Lion & Sun
I eat here often and they serve the best fish and chips I have ever had. The Red Lion & Sun is more of a gastropub, which is welcome because Highgate already has its share of traditional pubs. Great for star-spotting, too. I have seen Alex Zane, 3 of the "Pythons" (together). Tony Hadley and Cindy Jackson there before. It seems to be a favourite with the local celebrities. It's pricier than most pubs, but the portions are generous. Would definitely recommend.

Balans (Kensington)
Really good food, friendly service. I have been here a few times and it is always a nice experience. I prefer this Balans over the Soho one, which is also excellent but too noisy for my liking. There are several other branches I would like to try in future as I have heard they are all of the same high standard. Would definitely recommend Balans Kensington.
