Mae Ping (Beckenham)
Have been here before and service and food had been average at best. Decided to give it another go, but wished we hadn't as it was a disaster. Ordered our drinks, and then had to re-order them as our order had been mislaid.
Had the prawn tempura and beef salad to start. Avoid both. Prawn tempura turned out to actually be vegetable tempura with the odd prawn thrown in. It was also cold. Beef in the salad was chewy and of poor quality. Not authentic at all.
We left half of it, and no sooner had the plates been cleared then the mains arrived. No time whatsoever to relax in between courses. When the curry arrived it was the wrong one and had to go back. The staff weren't helpful and thought it was acceptable to leave the rest of the dishes to go cold whilst they cooked the correct curry. When this finally turned up it was bland. Worse than that, though, was the ingredients. The curry had frozen peas in it. When questioned, the manageress stated that small aubergines which should be used were too expensive. That says it all about this place. Not interested in quality or authenticity, it's just about cost cutting and making as much profit as possible. Sent the food back, had it struck off the bill and left. Will not be returning again, and suggest everyone gives it a wide berth.
