Les Trois Garcons

Absolutely fabulous, opulent and slightly mad dining room. We really liked that aspect of the place. it had a good atmosphere, lots of very dressed up people out to impress - though a bit east end with a hint of gangsters and molls about it.

Food was decently cooked, quite fancy French cooking. It was not amazing- a bit too much butter masking the fact that the flavours didn't really scream out freshness from the plate - but pretty decent. I think £30 for three courses is fairer than the £48 or so they charge.

What I didn't like so much was the service - the waiter was falling over himself to drain the bottle of wine into our (overfilled) glasses before we had got halfway through the main course so he could offer to "crack open another one" and he was just a touch too obsequiously overattentive. They also add the gratuity to your bill, don't tell you, and then invite you to add a gratuity (again) when you give them your card. I HATE that.

Overall a fun place to go for a night out, but too expensive to be good value for money, and I'm not in a great hurry to go back.
