Khun Mae Thai

This small restaurant is next to a pub (and unfortunately suffers from its over loud music on a Saturday night) and is conveniently located near the cinema.

The staff are friendly and the service efficient. (They were amused by our inability to eat the fiery chillies scattered liberally over our stir fry dish)

We decided to come here for a special occasion because of the reviews and the good selection of vegetarian food on the menu.

The wine was cheap with the most expensive bottle of red being about £15 (about £6 or £7 in a supermarket). However, we found the food disappointing. It was obvious that the vegetables were frozen and going on the texture of the tofu, so was the beancurd, which unfortunately detracts from the flavours. Maybe the price is sufficient to justify this, but it still isn't as flavoursome as the food from my local takeaway.
