Pizarro

Pizarro restaurant is exceptional by any standards. It is a restaurant full

of personality and soul. Our evening here was an absolute pleasure and satisfying on many levels. The environment is stylish, warm and contemporary with a range of different seating areas. I'm not an easy person to please when it comes to food but Pizarro really does deliver. Each dish we ordered exceeded our expectations: the jamon iberico was melt-in-the-mouth, the croquettas were crisp on the outside and hot and delicious inside, the quail was surprisingly succulent for this normally quite dry bird, and the Lamb! ...ah, the lamb! the chocolate dessert was a happiness inducing end to our evening. The wine list has something for everyone but the Cava options are particularly good. Service was excellent because the waiters are professionals (as you might find on the continent). Regarding some online debate about the no-booking policy here, this is 2012 and we would always prefer to wait and then have a table for as long as we need it rather than be asked to leave when the next booking arrives. Waiting at the bar was cool and felt more in-keeping with the Spanish spirit of this restaurant. It was cool to chat to people as we waited which added to the overall more social, Spanish approach to eating-out - very 2012. In fact, we only waited about half an hour but if it were more, we may well have gone down the road to José for some tapas and a drink until a table became available. It was overall a great night and as another reviewer said, we left feeling very happy. This place is progressive, original and high-quality. I highly recommend it.
