Zucca

Something has been brewing for years around bermondsey street. The Garrison and Village East instigated the food movement years ago and it is now well anchored in the fibre of this area, a hop away from foodie Borough Market. So when Zucca came along, and opened in a glass box on the ground floor of a modern development, as a resident, i thought oh dear.... but complete surprise, this is a very good restaurant, with lovely staff in the know of the menu and wine list. my only grumble are the white tables with the little vases on them which takes me back to the 90s when this was fashionable and fortunately no longer isn't. It is a lovely place and with the likes of Jose & Pizzaro around the corner you now must book well in advance.

Jin Kichi

i often go to JIN after a long walk on the Heath. It is pure joy, (albeit the oh-so up themselves Hampstead diners). Here, Japanese food has been cooked (or not-) for the best part of 20 years and this tiny place on Heath Street is a veritable monument of Japanese cooking.
