Food-wise I'd liken this to the Capital in Knightsbridge on the basis of what I ate - generally towards the richer and sweeter end of the spectrum, with less complexity than I'd like. My mixed salad starter was excellent - no complaints. The venison was rich and dark, and not really offset by the vegetables - just a little heavy. The lemon tart was rather monotonous - no cream, ice cream, garnish or anything to add complexity. I must say that my partner's meal was lighter, more successful and was enjoyed more - good pigeon and Ile Flottante. For myself I'd rather eat at La Trompette or Foliage in this general style - more complexity and food that dances a little more rather than settling on the bottom. Service was quite correct if a little formal and the decor is also rather dark and formal - again a lighter, more humorous atmosphere at Foliage and La Trompette, and an atmosphere of fun is more welcoming and does lighten the occasion. Food is correct, but I'd probably not return because in the final analysis it doesn't really stay in the memory. Maybe they need to relax more and stop trying so hard - effort doesn't necessarily produce the results that creativity and inspiration does.
