C&R Cafe Restaurant

Excellent cafe for good value south-east asian food. Menu has a lot of choice and variety. Was recommended by singaporean friend. Food has med-large portions, tasty and comes quickly.More a cafe to get a good portion of genuine singaporean/malaysian food, rather than an atmospheric restaurant. Always busy.

New Loon Fung

I'm Chinese and sometimes come here with my family for dim sum lunch. It's good standard dim sum, reasonably priced by London standards, so would recommend. Haven't been here for dinner though.

Jakarta

As a student, you get the best deal coming for lunch.A set lunch 3 course menu costed us £6 each exc service and drinks. It's not really pure indonesian - more like selected southeast asian dishes suited to Western palates. The dishes were tasty - although we liked the thai green curry the best.I found the beef rendang a bit dry.Tom Yum soup for starter is good too.My parents went here for dinner and were disappointed with the food though,so I guess you just have to try it out and see what you think.

New Golden Palace

I'm chinese and our family come here when we want chinese food. The quality and taste is good for chinese standards in London.Great for dim sum.The dinners are more 'modern classy' rather than traditional chinese with medium/small portions and more emphasis on contemporary presentation. It's always good value though if you go in a big group.Price-wise it's much better than lots of non-chinese cuisine restaurants!

Hanoi Cafe

Menu is very low price, which is good for students.I was a bit disappointed with the food, considering it was run by vietnamese people. The portions were a bit small and the taste wasn't quite right. My friend ordered a scallop dish which only had 3 scallops in it.Basically,it's low price but I feel there are better vietnamese's around

Cafe Espana

Food is tasty and decent portions.I paid about £11 for food, excluding drinks and service. It is really crowded in the evenings though.Paella was yummy - first time I had it.I'm not v experienced in London tapas but was nice food and ok price.

Little Bay (Kilburn)

Excellent french/european-style restaurant.Food is really well presented and tasty. You rarely find this cuisine for such low price. It's cheaper if you dine before 7, starters and desserts £2, mains £5.Highly recommended - tastes the same as restaurants that charge 3-4 times the price.
