We went to Shanghai Blues last night. It is a really pretty place very nicely decorated. We first had a drink in the bar. They served little nibbles with it which was nice. There was pleasant piano background music. But I did not like the fact that they kept the mixer going to prepare drinks which was a disturbing loud noice ruining the atmosphere. The food was delicious but it is on the pricey side. We weren't particularly happy with the service though. First they were a bit pushy, more water, another bottle of wine...you constantly felt like you had to justify why not. Then they seemed to have given up and we had to ask for the desert/tea menu twice and wait for it for quite a long time. I dislike when they make you feel like you are not running up a high enough bill. That's just wrong and we did have starters, 2 bottles of wine, main, tea, so what else did they want?

I went here on a Saturday afternoon with 5 friends. The service was terrible. The waitress was extremely unfriendly. Some of us did not have a complete cutlery set and when we asked for it, she brought it very slowly and not even all the missing ones at the same time while my friends already had their dishes in front of them. Another friend got her glass of wine after she had finished her meal. When we got the bill we did not pay the optional added service charge. She came back and said we hadn't paid the whole amount. My partner said we did, the service charge was optional and we weren't happy with the service beause of...He phrased it very politely. While he was in the middle of mentioning some points she walked off. She did not even let him finish his sentence. Extremely rude.
The food was plain but good. It was reasonnably priced. The atmosphere wasn't particularly great, the phone was constantly ringing and the girl standing next to it did not even bother picking it up. It was quite uncomfortably cold there too.
I don't recommend going there at all.
