Livebait (Covent Garden)

Livebait in Covent Garden is always quiet on a Saturday afternoon, perfect for getting away from the crowds. But our most recent visit was disappointing. Service was painfully slow, the classic fish and chips were greasy (not to be expected for the price and lack of newspaper) and the mash potato drier in texture than Smash. The worst thing about it though was the sinking feeling of being scammed. Apparently you have to book in advance in order to be eligible for the 20% discount off your bill(currently available when you order between 3-5pm). It didn't say that on the blackboard and why you would ever think to book at such a quiet time is beyond me. Fortunately we were able to resolve this but the damage, alas, had been done.

LMNT is great. But I wish they'd change their menu!

Hamburger Union (Dean St)

I love this place. So simple. The food is reasonably priced and always very tasty. You're never rushed to get out of there either.
