Chez Kristof
I was looking forward to going after reading the previous reviews and I can now see why people like it.
We arrived at 7 and got excellent friendly service. We thought it was a great dining room but too dark to read the menus and it would get loud when the crowds spill in. It was Wed so pretty quiet.
Our meal was average. They didn't open the oysters very well so lots of debris, my 'roast lamb' was 2 large chunks of meat that were a bit tough and tasteless - I should have sent it back. My wife's food was better but what can go wrong with a piece of smoked haddock covered in creamy cheesey sauce cooked in a skillet. I can recommend the house white since you have to too far up the wine list to get a quality.
But that's only one visit. Bottom line, I can cook better than that, and at those prices I'd rather stick to better.

Maggie Jones's
Went last night with the family since my niece was here from LA. If you've not heard of Maggie's, it is English food as eaten by the royal family.
I was surprised by the price increase since my last visit but pleased that my wife paid for all 5 of us. I think it has increased by 50% in the last 18 months but their rent probably has as well.
The standard is still high and without fault apart from being a bit dark. If you are a couple wanting to be intimate, ask for a booth.
Great menu and nicely quaint interior. House white - drinkable.
Starters and Veggie dishes very generous. I would suggest that you treat the vegetable portions as for 2 people which helps with the price of them.
Highly recommended.

Viet Grill – The Vietnamese Kitchen
Went after work on a Tuesday night at 7:30 with 6 people. It was almost empty but that never puts me off when you are early.
It meant we got good service and I was pleased to find the place bright and clean and not cramped.
The waitress was not the happiest person but maybe that's Vietnam for you.
We had a big variety of starters and main courses and it was excellent. The Viet pizza is a seafood omelette and the Viet steak dishes were high quality - both recommended.
I will be going back even though it's out of my way

Bali Bali
The waitress told us to order starters after we'd ordered the rijstafel (which I expected to be enough food served a few dishes at a time). We order some satay for 5, chicken and beef. The satay came out within 2 minutes - very suspicious - and guess what, 6 chicken and 4 beef. Not made to order obviously. They brought the main 6 dishes on all at the same time and they were average. We definitely didn't need the satay as the portions were generous.
It's a shame really since there are so few Indonesian restaurants in London.
