The Ivy

One word describes this place - FABULOUS. I had heard it was over rated but I don't believe that to be the case. The food was superb and the menu very diverse and the service brilliant - my margerita was made to perform.

Park Brasserie

We ate at the Park Brasserie on a 50% off deal before the theatre. The service was impeccable, with the maitre ' d reassuring us that our food would be ready in time for the theatre. I ordered codling and chips and would have to say that this is the best I have had in the UK - the batter wasn't too heavy and the portion was quite large. My husband order the salmon and wasn't complaining.

We ordered 4 side dishes (far too much) instead of starters and the mushrooms were exquisite. The side dish portions were very generous. The house champagne was a bit expensive but then it was Park Lane! A slight hassle with the bill as they only had a record of a 25% off deal, however we had our email and they honoured our booking for 50% off. The girl was very polite and took the time to investigate. The toilets were very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would return whether it was 50% off or not.

Garlic & Shots

As garlic lovers my husband and I decided to try this place. Its quite gothic, grungy and loud. It was hard to talk and not really our scene but as garlic lovers we wanted to try it.

We started with the roasted garlic bulbs which were underdone and crunchy, the pickled garlic we enjoyed and the garlic mushrooms. We were disappointed with the garlic mushrooms as they were done in a sauce and cold which wasn't clear from the board.

My husband had the chilli con carne with extra garlic which he said was fabulous but the chips and deep fried corn did not go well with it. I had the garlic burger and found it quite average and didn't finish.

The garlic vodka I enjoyed and my husband loved the bloodshot.

Not somewhere I will re-visit, however I can't fault the staff they were very attentive, polite and pleasant.

Marcus Wareing at the Savoy Grill

I visited here on a Monday for lunch in April 2005. The setting, service and presentation are second to none. It never disappoints when you see the desert, champagne or cheese trolley come by!

My friends and I had eaten here quite a few times a few years back, so upon our return we were disappointed with the menu. We found it was very limited as we were only offered the lunch or dinner set menu whereas previously a full a la carte was available.

The beef was not the tastiest, however the desert I ordered was divine. On the plus side the staff were very accomodating when I asked for my starter to have no sauce (I am sure chef was unimpressed!!).

After my visit I was not keen to return, however it appears a full a al carte is back and I am tempted to give it a second chance.

The Living Room (W1)

My friends and I had lunch here on Saturday. Our waiter was friendly, polite and always there when we needed him. The mains were average but as we had a 50% off the food deal we thought it reasonable for those prices and on one of those deals I would visit again. I liked the layout of the place, you could either sit down in the restaurant or have drinks at the bar.
