Kisso Japanese Restaurant

Bar Japan is now called "Kisso" and is nothing like it used to be. Gone is the canteen feel for a smarter decor with dark leather banquette seating and dim downlighting on alternate tables, interspersed with oil burners. Mrs Munch Monster dined with me and we went through sushi, nigiri, starters and mains. The soft-shelled crab was so good we had to order a second, my black cod was good (typically Japanese in size), service was efficient and friendly without being imposing and we left for c£35pp, slightly steep given the drinks included one warm sake for one, one Asahi and two smal bottles of sparkling mineral water, but Japanese food this good doesn't come cheap.
