What a disappointment. Went last night with three friends. Firstly, our table wasn't ready, so we were dumped in the bar for ages. It took half an hour just to order drinks, and repeated conversations with the staff before we were eventually shown to our table, more than half an hour late and with no apology.

We weren't shown the specials menu, which is what two of us wanted, and had to ask, and then wait another ten minutes until a waiter brought a copy. He didn't tell us that the menu had changed, so when we ordered, everything we wanted was off, and we had to select again.

The drinks took ages to arrive, the Sangria was awful, and generally, it was not a good night. It's a shame, because the food was actually very good, and was reasonably priced, it was just utterly let down by truly appalling service.

Would I recomend this place? No.

Finding ourselves at a loose end in Paddington last Friday night, my other half and I decided to treat ourselves to something to eat. This being Paddington, we weren't holding out hopes of anything stunning, but were delighted to stumble across Levantine.

The food, while not the cheapest in town, was delicious. The meat mezze seemed to go on for ever, and by the time we got to the mint tea, baclava and fruit we were both feeling decidedly uncomfortable, but decided to struggle on gamely, determined to extract every penny of value from our £25 a head choice.

I have to avoid gluten and am allergic to melon, but I easily managed to negotiate my way around the various dishes with a little bit of help from the friendly, attentive but not intrusive staff.

The belly dancer was great fun to watch, even if my petrified man focused solely on his plate throughout her dance, terrified that if he glanced up he would catch her eye and be forced to wobble his belly in some bizarre dance with her.

All in all, not the cheapest place, but great food, great atmosphere, and one of the best places we've eaten for some considerable time. We will be back.
