My girlfriend and I ate there on Friday night and felt the overall package Shikara delivered was quite satisfactory.
Decor was cool and the music was perfect.
Nice vibe in the place and it was full at around 9:00pm.
The variety of dishes available was excellent and the food was scrumptious. Dessert - I would skip myself next time. Quickly rushed from the freezer and thrown down - no thanks (lessons learned)
Prices are very resonable - I thought it was excellent value for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts, 2 orderings of naan, tea and one bottle of wine = £55
Make sure you order the chutney tray to go with your pappadums and naan - wonderful delights.
Service - just ok.
One gentleman was lovely and deserved the nice tip later. Nothing was too hard and his demeanour was exemplary.
We ordered a pot of tea (as written in the menu)and received one teacup of tea. We alerted a waiter that we wanted two teacups of tea and he suggested that it was too busy and the wait will be longer than 10 minutes (I wonder what Gordon Ramsey would say to this waiter?)
Pretty ordinary performance by the guy.
Not the way you want to finish a great night really.
I would go again but when there are so many Indian places to try, the competition is tough and the temptation is to move on and try another one.
If you're going there you will enjoy it.
