My husband and I went to Petrus for our 5th wedding anniversary. From the minute we arrived the waiters and waitresses were attentive, friendly and eager to help. I don't drink alcohol and sometimes in restaurants I am looked down on for this, but the waiters were happy to ply me with delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. The food was absolutely incredible, all of the ingredients were explained to us in an informative and non patronising way. The extra touches were fantastic. The desserts were out of this world and amazingly, although we didn't tell anyone it was our anniversary they must have heard us say something to eachother as my dessert arrived with a candle in it and we were wished happy anniversary! Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, and we couldn't eat another bite - they brought out the bon bon trolley - bliss!!! The evening ended with a tour of the kitchen and a quick chat with Marcus Wareing who must have been rushed off his feet but still had time to pop over to say hello. Absolutely incredible - we can't wait for the next special occassion to head over there again. Will probably have to remortgage but it's well worth every penny.
