Zizzi (Strand)

The restuarant is situated below street level with an impressive light airy walkway and staircase down, and interesting fire wood decoration.

We had booked a table for 14 (on business) and were cramped in a corner on a table designed to sit no more than 10. It was busy (on a Tuesday) but there was a pleasant bubble of conversation - not too noisy.

Service was poor, and the waiting staff didn't appear particularly friendly, or helpful. Starters were delivered in dribs and drabs over the course of 15 mins so impossible to eat "together".

There were a couple of errors in taking the main orders, so two of the guests were without food whilst their orders had to be remade.

The standard of food was fair. Pasta was cooked "right" with a fair choice of ingredients. Pizza to my mind seemed a little overdone with a dry tasteless crisp base, and sparse use of tomato or toppings.

On the whole a very mediocre experience with the guests keen to leave before desserts and return to their hotel rather than facing service again! Bill including drinks was around £20 a head.

Wouldn't recommend it unless a small number of you on a budget (for London).
