Noodle Oodle

Have been dining her for almost four years - including Inn Noodle days. service and atmosphere are what to expect for a no-nonsense, serious noodle house. not a pretty interior by any stretch of the imagination. actually the service is efficient and even polite (frequently). have taken many friends and colleagues there over the years and all have raved about it.

Love the soups, dumplings and noddles. a very different experience to china town. don't believe it has any intention to do so or need to - far better value.

Canteen (RFH)

to visit their web site and then to visit their restaurant - you can begin to appreciate what a bit of slick marketing can do.

canteen is really nothing special. had one good breakfast (out of many) that's about it. the staff are far more interested in playing and cavorting with each other than serving the customer! this kills any chance of a decent dining experience.

i work on the next block down tottenham court road. a convenient location for us and surprisingly fine dining venue. i dine there regularly with colleagues, suppliers and clients. very enjoyable pastas, great meat dishes, so so wine selections - but doesn't matter much at lunchtime on a work day.

staff and management are wonderful people. their meals are honest, filling and tasty.

saw the restaurant featured in a documentary on michelin star ratings. saw images of the dining room on the web site. all very impressed before reservations were made.

the interior is light, minimal and very well executed, the onxy bar a work of art (bar stools a bit clunky).

staff - friendly and unassuming, made you feel welcomed.

i very much wanted to have a "top 10 meal" meal experience. well....not quite top 10, but a most enjoyable meal nonetheless with accommodating staff in a serene yet thoroughly modern setting. will return after their expansion this summer to explore the menu further.

Zizzi (Wigmore St)

i travel (and dine) quite extensively thru out europe. Zizzi is by no stretch of the imagination an italian restaurant.

i have eaten there several times this year mainly because of the out door seating and its adjacency to my hotel.

it is just OK; not offensive nor is it a delight - basic.

will i go there again, probably yes. would i recommend it for a serious dining experience - No.

Bombay Palace

i have dined at the Bombay Palace in Mumbai and New York before visting the London location 13 years ago for the first time. in these past 13 years i have lived in London and Holland. i have dined at the Bombay Palace countless times and have taken a multitude of friends, family and business associates.

the menu varies thru out the year and is not your typical "indian". yes, it may be a bit pricey but well worth the experience. i uusually close my eyes to try to capture all the complex tastes and pleasures the food has to offer. i have never found the offerins to either be too hot to the taste or overly spicey

i highly recommend the Bombay Palace; service is top, the space is very nicely designed (not in your face), no annoying loud indian music, and across the road from a green oasis in the middle of London.
