Jin Kichi

I am a massive fan of Cafe Japan over the hill in Golders Green but I must say the Toro I was served here is the finest I have ever had and I've has Sushi from San Fransisco all the way to Osaka and places in between.

The place is small , the service slow , the staff charming and the wait well worth it.

Only down side is the price but , If I died tomorrow , I would have died knowing just how good the best Toro can be.

YO! Sushi (Finchley Rd)

Used to be a fun place to go with the kids but since the introduction of the new menu in Jan 2007 ,you now have to wait up to 30 mins for the cooked food to be delivered. As this is a fast food gaff , the turn round should be much quicker.

In 2004 when we first went the place flowed and the staff were all very interactive but now they seem dis-enfranchised and don't care as the senior management seem to have gone awal and lost the plot forgetting that a fast food resturant should be just that and not one where you find your Chicken Katsu and Yakitori Sticks arriving 20 mins after the kids are bored waiting.

My kids used to love it , now its avoid , avoid , avoid.

Vijay Indian Restaurant

I have also been going to the establishment for many years starting in 1970s when there was a fantastic member of staff who spoke to you in Ivrit, not because he was an Israeli but because he had studied the language and it pleased him to do so. Being Jewish but having no understanding of Ivrit I found it hilarious,

Meanwhile back to today.

What was once a fine restaurant has now become decidedly average.

The service was slow although there were lots off staff on hand but they all seemed to be running round like headless chickens not to sure what to do. The food was good but again was slow in coming when the place was only half full at 8pm on a Saturday night, The dishes were all what I would call smaller portions and the bill for 3 adults and 3 children came to an amazing £80 . We only had 2 starters and 5 main with 3 vedge and 2 rice , We had no puddings and ordered tap water , 2 Lassi , a Coke and an Appertise.

I consider this a tad expensive for the area.

Going back to the old days when it was very different , the service was 10/10 and

the food fantastic and reasonably priced. I believe the problem is that the next generation have taken over and they have lost the plot.
