Gran Paradiso

I took my girlfriend here for lunch as it was en route to somewhere we were going. I'd booked ahead because I'd found it on the internet with some positive reviews.

I was a bit disappointed when we turned up. The outside is hardly "impressive" to look at and is not in a particularly smart part of town. Nevertheless we went in anyway because of the booking. The man who greeted us and took us to our table was friendly, however the waiter was one of the grumpiest service staff I've ever met and didn't really speak english very well or understand what we wanted to order and had to resort to pointing at the menu.

All those complaints aside the food was ok. Not special but OK. The bill also wasn't very big, so that's a plus. I probably won't be going back too soon though, it just wasn't that nice.

Galileo's

After too much shopping me and my girlfriends were heading back to Charing Cross, with the plan being just to go somewhere like Pizza Express. We saw this place on the way though, and I'm so glad we went in. The Food was good, the staff were so friendly and nice and it was hardly expensive either.

We sat upstairs which had a really nice atmosphere, so I can't comment on the atmosphere downstairs as someone else said, but it seemd alright. Overall I was extremely impressed with the restaurant. The food was of a standard higher than most Italian restaurants but it's obviously not a top end restaurant. I definitely hope to go again.
