My Old Dutch (Holborn)
I ate at My Old Dutch last week. This was my second visit to a restaurant that is fast becoming a favourite. The pancakes are enormous – far too much for me to manage all of! The savoury toppings are inventive and with four veggie options plus plenty of ‘make your own’ choices there’s plenty for non-meat eaters like myself. On my last visit I had creamed spinach with cheese and ratatouille. A great combination and very filling. I haven’t yet managed to leave enough space to fit in a sweet pancake, but I fully intend to. On this occasion I shared a waffle with loads of syrup and vanilla icecream with my boyfriend. After I woke up from the sugar-induced coma (only joking), I was completely satisfied!
The pancakes aren’t cheap, but for the quality and quantity of food on offer, the prices are more than reasonable. The service isn’t the most accomplished I’ve ever experienced but the staff are perfectly sweet and happy to help.
I’ll definitely be booking for Shrove Tuesday next year. And I might even attempt a sweet pancake!

I really can't understand the bad reviews this place has received. I couldn't fault it. The service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The wait between courses was just right, and the staff were happy to let us eat and drink at our own pace rather than making us feel we were being forced out.
The food was amazing. Never have I seen so many vegetables with veggie fajitas! My boyfriend's steak was cooked exactly as ordered, which hardly ever happens. There were two vegetarian choices, which is average, and at least neither of them was the ubiquitous risotto.
At just over £60 for two courses including wine and service, it was far from expensive.
